Misdemeanor on my record..can I visit?

Post by Tamworth54 » Fri, 26 Aug 2011 5:32 am

Hello,
I am from the USA and plan to visit this late fall. I have a wet reckless driving from about 20 years ago and a disturbing the Peace from 5 years ago... Both only informal probation and small fines... Will I have any problems with visa upon arrival? I've not had problems in other Asian countries including Hong Kong....

Thanks in advance.

You'll be fine for a visit. HK is generally much stricter when it comes to criminal records, so, if you got in there OK, you should be good for Singapore.

For social visits, the immigration card you fill in has no questions regarding whether you have been arrested/convicted etc. If you were getting a work pass it is a different matter.

This is in contrast to say the old US visa waiver self-declaration form where you had to declare if you had committed crimes 'of moral turpitude' .

Yes you will have no problems visiting.

However if you are intending to get a job in Singapore, they might bring up your history and that might count against you.
