Does your UK credit score have any impact when trying to open a Singapore bank account?
Thanks

Re: Credit Score
No, they are completely separate entities for retail banking.rjh73 wrote:Does your UK credit score have any impact when trying to open a Singapore bank account?

I'd hazard a guess that the only time they'd use the credit reference agencies in the UK is if you were applying for PR or Citizenship, or maybe setting up a business and were a Director.
Singapore has its own agency in checking credit scores of singaporeans as well as companies.
You are from UK and your UK credit score only applies to your side and our banks here will not be able to know about your track record.
However, once you obtain credit cards here in Singapore, remember to pay promptly otherwise they will insert your names blacklisted here in our credit bureau. This credit bureau record can be view by almost all the banks here in Singapore.
A poor credit record here will diminish your chance of getting any loans here. Welcome to Singapore

You seem to get different flavours.zzm9980 wrote:I sometimes wonder, do these spammers just circle forever like vultures, or are these whole threads elaborate setups?
Some start a thread floating a subject, and it later becomes apparent that they have a financial interest in that subject. i.e. 'I found this really great company and thought I'd recommend it to others here...'
Others will do the same, but there will be two of them playing off each other. i.e. #1, 'Can anyone recommend a place near City Hall where I can have a suit made...' #2 'Oh yes, I have found XYZ really great, here are his prices and contact details...'
Some like this spam above [now deleted] are so robotic it wouldn't surprise me if they're pumped out by machines. They're not so much after direct sales, just getting the URL spread as widely as possible to get presence and come higher in search engine returns. Aka 'Search engine spammers'.
Others limber up with a few innocent posts which they hope will act as camouflage before they start with the advertising.
It can be quite satisfying trying to spot them, especially the ones who are trying to be clever and subtle. There is a definite pattern though (which I won't publicise), the Mods here can spot many of them before they've even warmed up.
p.s. To me the OP looks innocent enough. Some topics just seem like spam magnets though!

This one is probably legit as he is posting from a UK ISP as well. So it looks like he's got a dodgy history and a job offer in Singapore.

SOME PEOPLE TRY TO TURN BACK THEIR ODOMETERS. NOT ME. I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW WHY I LOOK THIS WAY. I'VE TRAVELED A LONG WAY, AND SOME OF THE ROADS WEREN'T PAVED. ~ Will Rogers
I concur with SMS, and would go further in suggesting that at the age of 38 the OP might be looking to start afresh.BillyB wrote:The sixth sense!sundaymorningstaple wrote:This one is probably legit as he is posting from a UK ISP as well. And 'Jesscia Jung' aka Jessbeautifulgirl of direct marketing notoriety earlier today was born on 10-10-1988 and works for a company called Rapture Edge.
Strange name for a company that!

What has Jessica big jungs got to do with the price of beef?!JR8 wrote:I concur with SMS, and would go further in suggesting that at the age of 38 the OP might be looking to start afresh.BillyB wrote:The sixth sense!sundaymorningstaple wrote:This one is probably legit as he is posting from a UK ISP as well.
