@sms:

So you finally got the crabs you were talking about the last time we met. :) How big is the pot for those 2.5 dozens of crabs? 5 liter pot? Is the pot big enough to cook them (30 crabs) in one go?

Would your wife mind sharing her chili crab sauce recipe? :P

Advance happy birthday! Looks like it was a good celebration.

@intime0:

I noticed that if there's haze from Indonesia, my allergic rhinitis does flare up. That's why I have cetrizine with me.

I also make sure that the air conditioner is serviced regularly.

I've seen vids of deep-frying turkeys, and how it can go wrong.

Hope you have a fire extinguisher handy! :o

Well my 2 cents ? Most aircon service men do nothing much .. other than wash the filter, and rarely blow the dust off the evaporator ..

Well, last week I was looking for the chemical spray, from 3M to wash off my unit, as I felt it was not cleaned properly, and a loot beyond the filter proved my doubts .. all hardware shop guys were like "you need professional help my friend, don't DIY .. shall I refer a aircon service?? " yes, professional help to wash filter and then what ? Nothing more .. and more is called 'chemical wash' ..

I suggest, go to DIY Shop, and look for the 3M Filter and stick one of them in your aircon, and your air will be much cleaner than the standard mesh filter .. and, well, the 3M filters are better at removing fine dust, and they have one version with activated carbon .

The included sticker to be put outside the aircon gives an indication when it is time to change the filter ..

PS: My housemate has been coughing for quite a while, and she is known to use aircon almost 22X7 .. and I took a look at her unit .. gross: despite it being service a month ago, I could see that there is enough fungi and blockage .. no wonder she is perpetually sick ...

50% Apple Cider Vinegar (ksl would be abhored) and 50% beer of your choice (ksl would be abhored again!)
Drink it! The best crab soup ever :wink:

Yep, standard equipment. 3.5kg Combat ABC extinguisher. 60 bucks for total piece of mind. Worth it.

AG, Nah, I couldn't find decent sized Blue Flower Crabs large enough or in sufficient quantities, additionally, the moon was wrong as well, so opted to try the good old Mangrove (or mud) crab. The ones that they make Chili Crab with. The pot in the photo? that's a 30 litre heavy guage stainless steel pot. I was able to get about 23 crabs in the steamer basket (you can see the basket in the right side background of the Turkey Fry photo. Had to do 'em up in two batches. The final batch only had 7 crabs innit, so they were able to move around when things started heating up so managed to delimb themselves in the process!

Actually, they tasted pretty darn good. And I used three bottles of Old Bay & equal amount of sea salt for seasoning. That was more than enough. In fact I still have enough for another 2.5 dozen. :mrgreen:

Will try Blue Flower crabs next time to make a comparison. But in a pinch the mangrove crabs will do just fine. Just get the medium sized ones as they have about the same amount of meat in them as a Why River Blue which are the largest that the bay produces.

I didn't get sick at all when I came to Singapore until I moved to my new apartment, July 7th this year. Since then, the only time I haven't been sick was when I was in Thailand on vacation. There have been differing opinions on what has caused it, but one thing is for certain, it wasn't my maid, as I don't have one! I second SMS's recommendation of EV Disinfection. Good guy, and very knowledgeable.
It is the S'porean air I tell you. Pure filth for someone like yourself. I am glad that the Thai air befits someone of your stature.
Explain yourself, please.
