I've seen it much worse. Back in the mid 90's I was living in the Serviced Apartment tower of the Park Royal on Beach road, circa 20th floor, and you could not see the ECP from the windows, maybe 1km away.

IME, the haze lasts for months a year, just at varying degrees. I wouldn't trust the SG govt to publish accurate statistics on it, in some respects it is not in their interest to do so.

I think smoking and drinking would do much more harm to your health!
