When I was searching for a gym I tried fitness first and true fitness. They have a fair range of equipment But I feel they focus a lot of space on cardio equipment, they would rather have 50 treadmills than a second bench press. They have a lot of trainers that will approach you as well. Facilities are nice though and equipment quite modern, plus they have classes and some fitness firsts have swimming pools.

True fitness is def cheaper, last time I checked they wanted about $80 a month, after they removed all the BS about joining and admin fees and slashed the monthly price in half (I can't stand that type of crap and pushy sales ppl). Fitness first wanted almost $130 a month for 12 month membership. They thankfully weren't so full of crap and were pretty straight up about it.

California fitness I haven't tried but I think it's same sh*t different day but
with more man on man action.

There's also several boutique gyms around, i don't know much about them.

In the end I chose the gyms that are stationed in the civil service club, d'club or dynaforce gym they call it, one at farrer park area (tessensohn rd) & at bukit batok. I chose them mainly cos I was working in bukit batok but also membership is SFA, maybe $300 for 6 months and they also have promotions sometimes. The gyms are not too badly equipped, enough to get by. You don't usually have to wait to use equipment as not many ppl go there, the big gyms can get real busy which is a pain in the ass.
