Oh, they'll be talking about that balloting for awhile! Vietnamese twins--that would have been some great diversity! :)

Yep, I felt bad for the 3 who were left out when I got my daughter's spot at Pei Tong. They arrived at 8:30 am and the places were gone.

Very good luck to you- if you need any more info on local schools let me know. I think you're in for a few months of pain while deciding on local vs international.

hi everyone
only a week to go until school starts! We had an orientation day at queenstown primary in november and met the teacher, who seems niçe enough. There are about 30 kids per class but the teacher also has an assistant which is great. Principal said 30 pc of students there are foreigners, Asian, caucasians and mixed kids. The best bit for our son was the canteen where you can buy your own food! Needless to say he went for the most unhealthy snacks!

Only a week to go before our DS starts in P1! We attended the orientation day in November, where he went from "so far, so bad" (in his own words) on arrival to laughing out loud during the short session with his classmates and form teacher, so hopefully he'll be ready for all that is in store for him next year.

Are there any parents out there who live outside of the school bus zone and who have arranged their own private transport? i can drop him but will need domeone who collects him. We live in Bukit Timah, and understand from the bus provider that they can only go as far as the top of Farrer Road....any idea who we could contact?

Hi metroguy--sorry to see you head out, you've had some great comments. Was part of your decision based on not getting a spot for your son? or were you offered a spot before you left?

My son got a spot in cantonment primary as well as the other int'l school. The move is primarily around PEP as it's non renewable. :D

So you were one of the early PEPs who they were aiming for originally as a potential PR but you just abused it instead. Am I close? :-|

That's why it's been tightened up now.

Could you elaborate on how you concluded that I abused it?

I never committed to take up PR. Have been paying non-local rates whenever i went to see a doc, schooling etc, all these 13 years.

Cantonment is a great school. I'm sure he'll have a great time where he ends up. Good luck!
