Recently we decided to venture the International Internship Program and we picked Singapore to be the country where we'll be sending the students. All is being processed and goin smoothly when our Int'l partner told us something. Here's a scenario to aid your comprehension:
My employer and some of my colleague went to SG to look for potential HOTEL partners for the Internship. They managed to find 2. After that they came back here in the Philippines and looked for students who were willing. A lot of students responded but of course, the Hotels screened them and we manage to trim it down with 21 studs. Now here's the matter; These studs had been hand picked by the Hotels themselves meaning they are the studs they(Hotels) want to work for them. The questions are: Even though they've been picked by the Hotels is there still a chance for MOM to deny their TEP application? If yes then, what will like be the reason given that the Hotels already decided to take them in? and lastly, what are the odds of the application being denied/rejected?
Please help this pour soul
Thank you so much!
First of all, are you trying to send students here or studs? Studs might be considered a form of prostitution and the authorities might frown upon that!
Even if you find a hotel willing to accept these students, there are very good odds that the MOM will reject the pass applications. Singapore is undergoing some readjustments in their Foreign Talent quest due in part to the losses they incurred during the last General Election in May. Because of the backlash against the perceived preference to hire foreigners by the employers here, the citizenry are up in arms. The gahmen suffered their anger and now it is getting very hard to get employment passes of any sort, especially if it not a niche position that said expertise is hard to come by locally. Given that, the hotel service industry is certainly NOT a niche industry. So, I think you will find it difficult, to say the least, to get the proper passes for them. But, nothing stopping you from trying.
Getting an employment pass is a two part process. First, the potential employee has to be qualified for the position and secondly, finding the employer who wants to employ them AND can convince MOM that they need to hire a foreigner because there are no local who can fill the positions. It's the second part that is causing the problems usually.
