Secondary school teaching salaries - International schools

Post by sharks73 » Tue, 09 Aug 2011 6:54 pm

Hi, my wife (a secondary school teacher) and I have recently relocated to Singapore. My wife has a few interviews lined up with International Schools and we are not sure what a good salary would be out here. She is qualified and has >6 years teaching experience - can anyone tell us roughly what salary and benefits she could expect to receive?

About S$2700 for MOM schools and upwards of S$8k a month (plus benefits, housing, etc.) for the upper echelon International Schools.

Without a teaching qualification (other than a CELTA), and without any real experience (other than a year in a pretty ramshackle college in China) I've been offered a bit more than the $2700 to come and teach history in an MOE school. With a proper qualification and good experience I would expect substantially more. My pay grade goes up to $4300 if that's any help. I am being paid slightly more than others who're heading out with me (tomorrow!) because I have an MA.

Hope that's a useful benchmark.
