Moving to Singapore for an one year internship in NTU

Hi everybody,

As the title says, I will be in Singapore during one year for an internship in NTU, and I would like to have some tips from you guys : what are the places around NTU which are nice to live in?
I am looking for flatmates on singapore expats classified, but I have only been proposed common rooms for a rent above 1000$/month, and not close to NTU so far. I am not familiar with the real-estate market in Singapore, but a common room is a room we are supposed to share with somebody else, isn't it? In that case, 1000$/month really is a lot...
If you can also give me tips to find cheap airtickets to go to Singapore from Geneva or Paris it would be great

No. A common room means a normal Bedroom, A master Bedroom has a bathroom/toilet within the Master bedroom, while the common BR uses the bath/toilet usually off the kitchen along with any other occupants of the house. Most common room will start at around 1000 if they are in a condo, while you can find them for around 4-500 in an HDB. An HDB Master BR will look at around 800-1000/mo
