Renewal of EP

Post by Copper74 » Fri, 05 Aug 2011 3:44 pm

Hi All,

I have some queries regarding renewal of my EP which is due in mid of next month.
I am from Pakistan and I got my degree from one of former Russian states. Furthermore, my qualification and experience match with my designation and job responsibilities and my profession is very rare.
Here is my case. I came in Singapore September 2010. My EP was approved within 07 working days. I applied DP passes for my family in February 2011 and the DP passes were approved in one day. As my EP renewal is due in next month, my company HR applied yesterday. Today I myself checked the status of the application and I got a response that “Pending inputs from vetting agencies. Expected outcome is 2 months from the Date of Application”

Sorry, I think I could not explain you properly. When I check the status, I get the response that pending inuts from vetting agencies. But at the same time my HR gets resposne on my application "Pending". She sent me the screenshot of the status screen there was nothing besides "Pending".

Secondly what does mean "probably be give the bog standard 30 SVP"?

I am not worrying about the vetting I am just worried due to time lines of vetting agency response and expiry of my card.

In the situation if MOM does not get a positive response before my card expiry, can my company apply for me a social visit pass for one month or so?

If you cannot renew in time, you will automatically get a 30 day SVP Pass at the expiry of the EP. (Social Visit Pass - but not extendable). If still nothing at the end of that visa, depending on where you are from you would have to either return to your country or just have to leave the country for at least 5 days before returning.

Bog standard, e.g., plain vanilla, e.g., normal social visit pass (SVP).

Still mean pending. Doesn't mean rejected/denied. You just have more information as to WHY it is pending. Pending means, well, pending.

SMS Thnakyou for your reply.
I have few more questions to ask:

1-As I mentioned earlier that I got my degree from a former Russian State, will it be illegal if I seek help by my class fellows or ex professors/teachers for a quick response to the querry of vetting agency? I still have good contacts with my ex professors/teachers and my class fellows? (I read elsewhere in the same forum that due to non computerised record or bureaucratic attitude, institutes take longer time to reply back to vetting agencies).
2- I am working with a MNC in Singapore and in past have worked with them in my home country but left due to conflicts with local management. Will vetting agency check the reference with the local branch of my company? Upon checking if some one from local branch of my company gives a negative report how should I over come? Actually, I did not get experience letter from them and for EP application I submitted my salary slip, copy of contract etc. I still have records of my working e-mails etc. which shows that I worked in the local branch for the time I claimed in my EP application? Do you have any idea that how vetting agencies check references etc.?(By writing or by calling in the companies?).
regards

You don't know who, what or how they gather their information. Neither do we. If it were to come to light that some sort of tom-foolery were taking place, then you could just bend forward, stick you head between your legs and kiss your butt goodbye. - not a good idea in other words.

I would be interested in hearing from you. I have a employee, also from a former Soviet State. She has been working under one of our companies for 5 years. Now we want to transfer her to another one. We were not requested to upload any document, as all them are with MoM. Is it possible that they were never verified in previous applications, so they need to verify them now?

Thanks

That's exactly how I lost two employees in Nov~Dec '09. They were given S passes and had been working with us for 6 months. Then they decided to vet their documents with the country of origin. Found out they were bogus docs. Pffft! gone.

Ok, thanks. So it looks like the vetting thing is random and can be done even with pass renewals.

But in this case, what will it happen if the employee doesn't get the new pass before the previous one expires? a SVP is absolutely unfair! Should we get an extension of the previous pass?

Thanks!

They would probably just renew it, and then based on their findings, after results of the vetting, either pull the pass or just let it go.

Well, first of all sorry, I could not reply you back quickly. My pass was approved on 14 August 2011 with in 10 days after renewal application. My university has computerized record so thats why it did not take much time for verifications by vetting agencies.

Yes, same case with our employee. However the system said it could take 2 months to verify, we got her pass approved in 1 week.

And I don't see anything so strange, JR8. Pakistan is very near Uzbekistan and other republics, and the soviet educations system is well reputated. I won't find anything strange to hear that a Pakistan or Afghanistan guy goes there for education.
