husband job offer

Post by new girl » Mon, 22 Nov 2004 11:13 pm

Hi! MY husband was recently offered the opportunity to transfer to his company's Singapore office for two years. I've been researching and everyone I've spoken to has loved it...

Are there any secrets we should know about though? Areas we don't want to live in? Problems you've encountered? Major negatives?

We're currently living in downtown Chicago (USA) so I'm not concerned about being crowded...

The only downside I've found is that since we don't want to ship our cat only to have him quarantined for 30 days we're going to have to leave him with my husband's parents  poor kitty

Thanks for your help!

Don't worry

Singapore is a very nice place to life and i believe you will be very happy to stay in for two years. This is a totally new experience to you. Basically, we can find anything here, condo with furniture or without furniture is affortable and it is very easy to get. Just call a couple number i am sure you will get what you what.

What you need to worry is the lifestyle changes. Here, it is totally different from US. And may be you will find it is impossible to get the food you like. But, why not try some of the local food... it is nice too..

I'm definitely open to trying new foods and cultures - if we weren't then we wouldn't be considering the offer :-)

Now we just have to see how much money his company will offer to relocate us since all our furniture here will have to be in storage....
