Cost of 3 bedroom apartment/house close to CBD?

Post by DoubleS » Thu, 04 Aug 2011 12:44 am

Hi,

We are very close to confirming a move from Dubai to Singapore in the new year. Currently a family of three, soon to be four in November! Both myself and my wife will be working full-time and we will be working in the Central Business District. Plan to use public transport to get to work. Salaries combined around 220,000 SD pa. Our budget for accomodation will be in the range of 3000-4000 SD pm.
Need to be no more than 40mins commute to the CBD. Can anyone give some suggestions on the areas to investigate?
We will be doing a trip after August, and I want to start some preliminary viewings to get us prepared for the new year....appreciate any advice, so we can start researching on the internet!! Thanks S

Please do a search first (links are at the top of all forum pages). As is, your questions are very general and have been asked and answered countless times already here in the forums.

We only wipe people's *rses here if they first made the effort to bring their own toilet paper.

You're asking very general questions which can easily be answered if you make the effort to look, rather than expecting others to do it for you. I think most of us would have thought that a household with a combined income of 220K pa would have enough of the grey matter to be able to use google or the search function on this site to get a general idea and then come back if they have more specific questions, looks like we'd be wrong though :?

Fair enough - I seemed to have rattled your cage somehow. We have done a lot of research on prices and potential areas to live in. I just can't get a reliable source on distance to travel to the CBD (by metro)
If it's not too much trouble, can someone at least point me to a site which will tell me how long it takes to get from metro station to another? I've googled, searched a number sites etc, etc. thanks in advance

gothere.sg
google maps

both give directions. both also have street view. both can estimate travel time by public transport, car or walking.

look at the train system map; and the SMRT website gives approximate travel times.

a lot of newbies here do fine lurking for information first and then only asking questions when something specific is in order.

Don't take it personally. I was in tears after a post I made asking for advice and support about the move to Singapore. I do believe it was on another website though. Some people just love to be bullies.

Do look around and get some figures, but I understand that it is always nice to have personal opinions on the matter, especially when you are new! Good luck with the move and I wish you and your family a safe and happy journey!
