We have been in Singapore for about a month and wondering the best way to experience National Day. We obviously don't have tickets for the NDP, but curious to know what other fesitivites are going on that day that are more accesible. Is it possible to get tickets for the rehearsals? Sounds like the fireworks are a good show?
Thanks for any ideas!

There is a free show every Saturday night at the minute with the NDP rehearsals.
Boat Quay gives you a good view of the fireworks over the top of the Fullerton.
Life is short, paddle harder!!

Most Community Associations (People's Associations) also have parties. You can also watch the show on TV. Buy a red shirt and you'll feel right at home. This will be our fifth (time flies) and we do watch on TV--dorky but fun.

hmm.. why not experience something unique. You can try balloting to access the top floor of Pinnacle Duxton (50th storey skygarden of the public housing flats) and enjoy the night view of the city and the port and enjoy the fireworks on National Day. But only 100 tickets are available and each ticket costs $10. Application closes 24th July 2011.

More info can be found in the link above.
Good luck!
