Child status who is born in singapore

Post by j0reen » Wed, 13 Jul 2011 5:14 pm

Hi, I would like to enquire on behalf of my fren.

My friend is Singapore PR (from China) but her husband is holding a work permit, working in Singapore and from China too.
Thy had registered their marriage at China Embassy.

If thy decided to give birth in Singapore, will the child be Singapore PR?
Pls kindly advice and thank you

No, child will only get LTSVP as child is under 21 and under the care of SG PR parent. You need to apply for PR later in the child life. It is not a straight forward thing

You can apply for the child immediately since wife is a PR. Best to apply as a family, hubby and child together under family ties.
Please remember if you apply under PTS scheme or family , your child if male is liable for NS duties in SG. If you intend to circumvent this, your REP/PR may not be renewed in later years. Think carefully

Then all bets are off. Any WP pass holder need approval from MOM to get hitch to a local or SPR before getting ROM. If you have not done that get it done quickly. If found out, you could be looking at him leaving Changi with door slamming on his arse.
Do not even contemplate applying PR for Dad if this is the case.
Get the unborn child LTSVP first after giving birth
