Medical Insurance for Confinement Nanny

Post by abbby » Tue, 12 Jul 2011 8:39 pm

I need some help here, I have hired a confinement nanny and applied for Temporary work permit.

Questions:

1. Which insurance company offers short term medical insurance of up to $15k? I called NTUC but they offer medical insurance of 14 months.

2. If the nanny returns to Malaysia and comes back to Singapore again within the period of the WP, will the work permit still be valid?

3. I read on the letter that if she leaves Singapore, her visit pass will be cancelled, what does it mean? Does it mean she cannot continue as WP holder?

Given maids in general can go abroad regionally with no issues (assuming their employers let them keep their passports), one must wonder what this 'visit pass' mentioned is. An SVP by chance, rather than a work permit?

What/why medical risks are you looking to insure for a month?
