Maid employment pass cancellation

Post by idoverty » Tue, 12 Jul 2011 1:23 pm

Hi, there. Our helper does not want to move with us and so will be leaving. I'm aware that I have to let the MOM know. Does anyone know if there is a grace period that gives her time to find a new role after she leaves us on 31st July?

Her new role has no part in it. If you wish to cancel her employment, the best route is to return her back to the maid agency and let them do the paperwork. The agency will find a new employer for her. If someone else wants to take her for an employee you have to inform MOM or the maid agency and they will do the necessary papers. As long as she is with you , you are going to pay for her salary. No mess no hassle. The maid agency is the one that can apply for grace period with MOM. Once you cancel her WP, she has to leave within 24 hrs out of SG if you do it yourself

Once you cancel the pass she will be given 2-week social visit pass and that may not be enough time to find a new job. Get in touch with the agency and discuss the options.
