Chances of Singapore job with <1yr exp

Post by jasminet89 » Sun, 03 Jul 2011 12:24 am

Hey I just needed some advice.
I finished my graduation from Singapore Institute of Management (BSc Banking & Finance) in June 2010. I've been working with *an MNC*, UAE since November. But its been my dream to come back to SG and work there. What do you think my chances are given my experience and education?
I intend to come back to SG to look for a job for the next 3 months. Is this step advisable since I have made savings and it would be spent on this entire trip?
I would like to mention that I applied to all of the Job Hunt sites when I did not have experience and I have recently started this procedure again. Coming to Singapore would give me the advantage of a face-to-face interview but keeping that aside, it is still quite risky for my career. This could be quite a foolhardy decision but I am trying to hope otherwise.
If there was any assistance that anyone could provide, harsh or not, I would greatly appreciate it.

IMO yes it is foolhardy. Stick with your current job, get a couple of years experience and then look for a transfer to Singapore, you're working for one of the largest banking organisations in the world you should take advantage of that and work towards get transferred over rather than risking your career and all the money you've saved. Singapore will still be here in 2 years

You will be in the position of easier negotiation in remuneration for internal transfer rather than appying on your own merit!....

Hey thanks for the advice guys! this is random, but good job on the forum. Its really helpful to lost and/or confused people.

My contract is ending and they are really trying to get me to become permanent but HR isn't too inclined to release an open position. So I was considering shifting incase my job does end! Hence the confusion.
