Salsa Cubana Style ? Anyone ?

Post by Paco » Sun, 26 Jun 2011 10:34 pm

Hi Everyone,

I recently arrived from France and discovered some nice Salsa bars in Singapore (Cuba Libre, Union Square...)

But I feel a bit alone in my Cubana Style surrounded by Portorico/Crossbody Style !

I am sure that there are a lot of other Salseros and Salseras dancing Cubana Salsa in Singapore who also feel alone on the Dancefloor and are waiting to meet dancers in their style !

If this message speak to you, please leave me a message at [email protected] so we can meet and go dancing altogether !

See you.
Paco.

Hi Paco, not sure what my style is, first learned in Colombian Caribbean but now a blend from dancing in many places... I'm keen to find good Latin dance places in Singapore but probably mainly daytime fitness rather than clubbing... can you recommend anywhere?

Hi,

So far I tried the social nights at the ACTFA school located next to redhill MRT station. I would say it is a nice school, friendly people and nice social nights, mainly on Monday and Thursday. Sometimes there is not a lot of persons but it seemt to me that everybody dances with everybody which is a nice spirit. It was a bit far for me so I am not going a lot now.

I also tried the Cuba Libre (mainly on Wednesday), a bar at Clark Quay with a small dance floor and a live band with cuban songs (salsa, bachata, merengue). I like this place and will probably go back there next Wed. Do not hesitate to join if you can.

I hope you will good places to dance salsa.
See you.
Paco.

You can dance salsa every day in Singapore :)
There are few clubs playing Latin music such as Union Square ( sometimes Cuban style dancing couples are spotted there :) ) , Cuba Libra, Movia and Azzukar.
Also there is really nice dance floor at 7even club located at Bugis area. They got socials every second Thursday . The closest one will be this week 28/7 ( also Bachata social competition will be on this day ) .
And also dancing schools have socials few times a week .
So if you are salsa lover you can search on FB "Where to salsa in Singapore" it's weekly updated list of Salsa and other latin dances events.
Hope to see you all on dance floor :)
Cheers!

Hi guys

I have a dancing background in jazz, ballet, tap and hip hop but have never learned salsa and have always wanted to as I love to watch it and the music. Do you guys know where they might do salsa lessons? I'm not too bad at picking things up quickly so would be looking for an intermediate class, nothing too difficult upfront but not beginners either.

Thanks in advance!
