Thanks for that... Ow! super funk-on down man.

You can really hear the James Brown influences*. Never heard of him before... excellent stuff! :)

[Is 'Get up and groove', the polar opposite of 'Get on down?' :))

Once I get some of my personal time back I will check out a lot of the links that have been posted over the past couple of weeks.

Yes, one has to wonder what JB would have sounded like without Fred Wesley or Maceo Parker.

If you watch the long clip, the last link, it has George Clinton at around the 20 minute mark, with a long and killer jam. All those guys on stage together.... The rhythm section ain't shabby either.

When I get time I plan to see the whole thing.

Phill Lynott from Thin Lizzy feat Mark Knopfler
this song reminds me of this pub in Bangalore called Pecos which played classic rock 7 days a week and served beer and popcorn with dosa and chicken curry with fried pepper beef.

Thin Lizzy.... hahahaha great band. Saw them live at the Rainbow Theatre, Finsbury Park, London in c.1978. Great show, not least because at the end they brought on 3 of their former gittarists, and so the finale was the band + phil + 3 rock-heads playing lead.

Knopfler however is a complete dick in the cool-stakes.

p.s. 1.01 and classic Lizzy

Thin Lizzy- The boys are back in town

Now tell me why you would want Knopfler, or Yanni, or Mantovani, or Liberace, going and messing with real-deal stuff like this?

:)

that would have been lovely to watch - i.e watching 3 of their former guitarists together.
oh by the way I have to write a report on the deep purple gig
I loved it and hated it at the same time.
I'll explain why in a post tomorrow along with some pics

The whole album, a classic and Desert Island entry.

Picks up on a lesser-know song but one with killer solos:
