Nor I, except I go slightly longer than you do, I think 461 was briliant. But hearing Layla played anytime past the 70s sounds nothing but trying too hard, and dunno why but I don't like anything with Nathan East on it. I:m sure he's a nice guy but his playing is just too antiseptic for me.JR8 wrote:Clapton is arguably well Clapped-out. Has he even released any new material these past 20 years? ..
Don't think I'm completely anti-Clapton, I'm not. Just I think his best days ended when he left the band Cream.

12 minutes. Something of an opus. Lovely recording. Try just putting it on in the background as you read/do other stuff.

Hey, I hope you have a great time and I'll look forward to a report here afterwards. For some reason I couldn't get excited enough to fork out for a ticket myself (getting old!), but hopefully my jaded attitude will turn out to be wrong and they'll put on an excellent show.rajagainstthemachine wrote:I'm gonna go to the deep purple concert tonight! can't wait I'm soooooooooo excited

Oh, well, I don't know.Brah wrote:JR, you trend towards the earlier Parlament, like Maggot Brain, which has a harder, guitar-oriented edge. I came in later, with Mothership Connection, which to me is their seminal work. I won't post any one clip because the whole album is classic and I wouldn't know where to start. Hit me...
I picked up a copy of : http://991.com/newGallery/Funkadelic-On ... 494942.jpg in a clearance record dealer in London back in c79 for like 10p. In that wild and glorious gatefold sleeve. I had no idea what it was, but the sleeve held promise!

Then yes, I went to school and my roomie was a Nigerian dude. A surgeon's son - but I think he thought he was George Clinton's brother or something

But it was only very recently (maybe 2 years ago) that I became aware of Parliament, and Maggot Brain. And how Parliament and Funkadelic inter-connected.
That's music from the soul, impossible for me not to fall for

Funk on!

RIP.
