The first time I saw or heard Robben Ford was on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show.

Robben plays great as usual, though this was his first solo outing, and Roscoe Beck kills on his 6-string bass, which is what originally caught my attention. Unfortunately his killer intro got cut off, but I'm so grateful someone uploaded this clip.

A topic in another thread made me think of this:
Good Charlotte - Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous

Wrongly, but I hadn't heard it in a while and needed to see the lyrics.

Ignore the populist fool of a DJ - 'DLT'....
p.s. is this a kind of sub-genre.... poet-rock or summink? This is just before punk broke.

Although "Paul's Boutique" has got to be one of the best albums ever. I mean... if you can come up with lyrics like "time and money for girls covered in honey", frankly, you deserve a knighthood...
Who? What? How? Why? Where? When? Merde...

Otway & Barrett - Cheryl`s Going Home
And I think this is actually a beautiful song:
John Otway - Geneva
The story goes that he spent all the money he had in the world (and then some) to pay for the orchestral session, convinced that the song would be a huge hit. But unfortunately it didn't quite turn out that way. John Otway - definitely a one-off, God bless him!
Be careful what you wish for

Woah.... that's brilliant. I just love the concept of 'visually apparently shambolic, (and yet actually highly gifted) - the intentional understatement)
Thanks for that, I REALLY enjoyed it, should one risk sounding a ponce by suggesting that's rather seminal, a stepping stone on the short path that joined tired-70sAOR to Punk?

I know I just posted this a few days ago, but I just looked, and dang, this guy has a lot of stuff available: http://www.youtube.com/user/OldMusicLibrary/videos
Anya? 10 minutes of self-indulgence. It is because of such music that punk needed to, and did happen. It finally cleaned the Augean stables of AOR.rajagainstthemachine wrote: I hope they play anya, one of my favourite deep purple songs, steve morse and ian gillian are legendary. the last time i saw them was in 1995 in Bangalore
