The mother of a schoolfriend had 'Best of the Band' on an 8-track cassette that she played in the car on the school-run.

Happy memories :)

So...just discussing about music, is it? Do you have a regular place that you usually go to for live music, JR8?

Probably does, although you might find it expensive to go as they are probably all in Germany at the moment.

It is what we make it :)

I like Fort Canning, as long as I remember to put my mosquito repellent on. The indoor arena can be hit and miss on the acoustics. I haven't been to a gig at the Padang, but I don't have much time for events of that scale any more (unless it's AC/DC :)).

Smaller places? Well. Foreign bands on tour rarely play such places as they need numbers to justify their visit. I did see the Buzzcocks play in some club at Clarke Quay which was a lot of fun, but that was a one-off type of affair. There is little local talent (there is some, but it's rare) that I'd wish to go and see regularly. The idea of four guys in a pub doing an impro blues or folk set is unfortunately alien in SG. Actually so is the concept of a pub...

Great stuff!! This year's baybeats looks promising... Well, they always do at the start, but the bands die down in a few months after that. Sigh!

Nope gig listings do nothing. Link some live stuff of theirs, and then we can be the judge.

yah ;)

I think just about the only decent place for that is Crazy Elephant at Clark Quay. They have some jams too, and the regular pubgoers bring their own guitars down to play a standard or two. Decent stuff, I must say.
I once complained that I had no shoes, until I saw a man with no feet.

Thanks, nice. Tight proposition aren't they. They remind me rather of Caracal!

That last link, they're playing a song from tablets? I can see how it's possible, just I've never seen it done before...

What was Face to Face?

That's the second time I've seen this place mentioned this week, hmmm... Got to say though I'm not big on Clarke Quay, it's all a bit fake for me...
