JAN AKKERMAN 'STREETWALKER', Wilhelmina Cafe, 2008
That's one of two songs that sometimes go though my head while I dive.
The other one is ...

SWAYZAK - State of Grace Remix
One dive recently I believe I fell asleep. Waking up under water is a very different experience lol

So, you slept with the fishes?

LOl
It was the weirdest thing, and I wasn't notably tired or anything. Just one dive I was tootling along and it was like I came-to from sleepwalking.
I looked ahead and saw fish. And my mind in slow motion went 'Oh look fish!?'. Then a short while later 'If there are fish you must be diving'. Then ...'You better dive then'.
No stress, no panic, just very slow and contemplative.
I'm getting to enjoy these deeper facets of diving lol. Won't deny it was weird though.

Wait till you get down around 180 on air. Then you'll really be tripping but you got to watch out and not try to feed the fish from your mouthpiece. I've done 220 on air and at that depth the body just won't do what you tell it too. fortunately I was on hose gear (anytime over 150') so just had 'em pull me up, soon as I hit around 165-160 the ole head cleared right up again. Gotta love Nitrogen Narcosis when you don't have to worry about getting back up under your own power.

I was going to ask whether you had experienced this, given your track record. I know of people who have fallen asleep 'on the line' during deco etc.
I've only been off-my-head narc'd once, and surprisingly it was at only 18m. Though I had done something like 50 dives in the preceding fortnight and been hammering it to about 3am each night. The funny thing, in retrospect, is that it was not in the least amusing or enjoyable. The books don't mention that.
But neither do they mention falling asleep

I know that vid, and as it happened sent it to Jan some months back. He said the guy was 'ok', (which is the highest praise i think I've ever heard him give any other gittarist!

Jan Akkerman - Streetwalker

A much better filmed and recorded version of a track I posted a couple of days ago. Sorry I think the previous version comes out top on Youtube results for some reason.
This version - to me - is monumental. And check out his gittar

Without putting too fine a point on it I understand your chap is not entirely altogether upstairs, a slice or two short of a full loaf, as such. Might explain why he is precise like a machine but there is no EQ/warmth.
Much like Steve Vai lol.

I just found the clip on Mortal Kombat's youtube account. It's on their favorites list.

Don't get me wrong, it is something else. The idea of doing a convincing take on a dance song completely on an acoustic guitar... Gotta hand it to him!

William Trubridge freedives THE ARCH at Blue Hole, Dahab
A vid of someone at the peak of their game - quite amazing!
I've dived that particular Blue Hole in Egypt, and I've mused over the many memorials on the little headland behind to the unfortunate people who've tried to dive the arch
on SCUBA and died as a result.
That this guy did it by breath-holding with no kit is really, just beyond words.

The Google Doodle for today is for Freddy Mercury's birthday, complete with an animated music video!

PJ Harvey - Rid of me (live)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzwG3r9_L9o
Woof. She is up for another Mercury Prize this week. Not everyone's cup of tea, I'd term it sparing post-punk. But she was a smack-head self-harmer back when she wrote it, so it is going to be raw any which way. From a mould like Trent Rezner I think.
Bought her album of the same name back in '94 when her style was decidedly febrile. Nice to see she's still delivering the goods.
Edit to add:
This is an earlier version and I believe truer to the intent (heavens, she was already ft. on Leno back in 93!).
