Hi, I had a quick look with the search function but didnt find an answer for this. Hopefully someone can help me out.
My WHP expiry date is 27/06/2011 ( next monday ). I would like to leave singapore and return on a 90 day tourist visa ( im from the UK ).
My question is do i need to leave singapore on the 26th and return on the 27th to get a tourist visa?
Or can I leave on the 27th and return on the 28th to be granted a 90 day tourist visa?
In addition i returned to singapore on the 19th June after 6 weeks away. I was hoping to enter on a tourist visa but they wouldnt let me because the WHP was still valid.. ICA and MOM told me all i could do was cancel the visa and id be given 14 - 30 days to leave. However i want about 3 months to look for a job which is why i now need to do a visa run to malaysia.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Both are possible but you are far from guaranteed to be given a 90 day stamp. To be perfectly honest they could look at your history and have you as coming back to Singapore to work illegally and give you 3 days to pack your bag and leave. Normally it's best to take a flight out and not to return for at least 5 days. Doing this would definitely improve your chances of getting a 90 day stamp.

Not sure about the WHP but all the rest of the passes will have you needing to leave Singapore for around 5 days (if from an Asian origin, you need to return to your home country) and then re-enter. If you are from the west, usually 5 days in another country will see you clear to a 90 day visa but again, it's not a guarantee. Singapore says that they can issue you a visa for up to 90 days but that doesn't mean that they have to. Shouldn't be a real problem but it's best to be prepared in advance.
A simple call to ICA might be worth a shot.

Ok thanks to both of you for the information. As you suggested its best to be prepared, I dont want to be turned away at immigration!
I forgot to say that I do have an EPEC and could apply for a LTVP but I think i need more time on my visa for that to be approved. Ill definately pay a visit to ICA and MOM tomorrow to get this sorted out.

When you apply for the LTVP under the EPEC they'll give you a stamp to extend your SVP while the LTVP is processed. IIRC they gave me two months.iainlclarke wrote:Ok thanks to both of you for the information. As you suggested its best to be prepared, I dont want to be turned away at immigration!

p.s. Sounds a bit like you're trying to string it out to the max. Can't say I blame you, I did the same (2 border runs to JB before I triggered the EPEC/LTVP), but times have changed since, and you don't want to be sending up any red flags with ICA.
