Serviced apartments

Post by Moley » Fri, 17 Jun 2011 7:38 am

We are currently re locating to Singapore from the UK and are looking for a reasonably priced 1 bed Serviced Apartment or short term apartment to rent for a month or so until we find the right area to rent longer term. Does anyone have any suggestions, we will be based near Singapore Zoo but would like to be in an area with other expats?
We are also going to be bringing our cat with us, does anyone have any recommendations for cattery's until we move into our rental property, or are there Serviced Apartments that will take pets?

There are no serviced appartments or other residential options near the zoo, which is in the jungle-covered centre of Singapore island. The nearest towns are Ang Mo Kio to the East and Woodlands to the North. Both have bus connections to the zoo, some foreign population (especially Woodlands due to the American School), but no Serviced Apartments as far as I know.
You need to search nearer to the city!
A serviced 1-room studio will cost from S$2500/3000 up (sky's the limit) per month. You can get a basic hotel for a similar price. (Again, there are no hotels in Ang Mo Kio, Woodlands, or anywhere near the zoo.)
As far as I know, your cat will have to go into quarantine for a month, so that takes care of the first month. After that, you'd have to enquire with the apartment management. Most will say No.

This document will answer your questions regarding the importation of your cat to Singapore (assuming by your first post that the cat is currently in the UK).

Lanson Place allows pets and we're here currently with our dog. Nice place in a great location.

At $9+k/pcm for a 1-bed I'm hardly surprised it is nice :)

I think the nearest Serviced Apartment / condos will be either at Choa Chu Kang / Bukit Panjang or Woodlands which will be close enough to the zoo

We've used these guys for Serviced Apartments when we came over in 2009, we found them pretty reasonable - they are a big advertiser on this forum (that's how we found them!)

They are pretty cheap in comparison to most places in Singapore, Serviced appartments are not cheap here!

Otherwise look on gumtree and craigslist, people do short term rentals on there!

Cheers
