Welcome aboard,

Not wishing to be a grump, but he smog is worse in SG than London.
Eh?? You old frump. What smog? Vapor envelope, yes.
What's one of those?

The burn-off from Indon (you know the one linked with the world saving 'eco friendly' palm oil biofuel) is worse than anything you will ever encounter in London.

I will surely get some joy exploring the city :)
Yeah, they celebrate it pretty big!

And having not long come to Singapore from the UK, I still love the heat, but not the humidity! :)

Hi JoannF!
Good to hear I will not be the only new one in town ;)
Hope your research is gonig well. When are you going?
I got a book from a friend: Singapore for residents" or sth like that. It's been really helpful!

I have my one way ticket, hotel, got the work permit and chose a shipping company... So, more less I am ready, I think..
As one of my leaving presents my friends organized for me a membership in one of the Singapore cycling groups, so I even have some social life and exercise sorted, haha.
I am actually very excited about the move. Can't wait to land in Asia, despite the humidity and smog related things etc. It'll be a great adventure!
Even the fact that I am coming completely on my own seems OK now :)

All the best with your prep and see you on the other side of the globe!
D.

No, thanks, I think I'll better off with agents advertising in a traditional way instead of crushing into forums looking for free advertisement...

Hi folks,
I am also moving to Singapore next week already. I am wondering if I can bring a bicycle with me or where in Singapore can i buy one? Or is it not recommendable to bike around the city due to heat and humidity?
Thanks for your help

Bicycles must be set up for left hand drive. Many crazy people ride bicycle races and marathons in the heat and humidity. Many places to buy.

It's amazing the cops haven't stopped me yet. I'd drive by them and they'll just grin and nod. Or is it maybe because I'm left handed?

I've also noticed that my American monkey wrenches don't work here. Had to buy the left hand version with reverse threads.

Moving to Singapore on 19th Sept - soooo excited!

Post by snow_meltss » Thu, 01 Sep 2011 7:07 pm

Hey,

It is nice to see that other people have made the move over from the UK. I am coming over to work in Changi from Cardiff - looking at flying about the 19th sept and then wanted to find a place to stay - like you I was looking at east coast park kinda areas. As a few of you guys who have posted on here have already made the move do you have any advice re finding condos? shipping over things etc?

I would be sooooo grateful for any advice.
