business/mgmt consulting job with engineering degree

Post by enginette » Sun, 05 Jun 2011 6:55 pm

I'd like to know if it is likely I can find a job in business/mgmt consulting with my engineering (mech) degree from 2008. I have been doing 'my own thing' since I finished the degree including helping to set up a company which is now moving somewhere I'm not sure I want to go. I also really need to earn some good money.

I don't have experience in this field but a lot of engineering grads get these types of jobs where I'm from (usually the smartest ones). Also could I consider going into a banking or finance firm?

I think consulting firms definitely welcome engineering grads. These firms usually hire from diverse background, and I have even heard of geography and art grads joining them.

However given your quantitative background, a banking or finance career that require you to do lots of maths should be much more rewarding.
