Does UPS deliver stuff from US to Singapore via... Alaska?

Ordered something from Amazon.com and wondering what my package is doing going from PA to KY to... AK!?!.

Is this normal?

I'd be more worried about your package needing KY........

Quite normal. Great circle rout doesn't quite go thru AK but close. If you are flying a plane with limited range it will stop in AK to refuel. Had this happen to me on a flight from LAX to TPE... jet stream headwinds so strong that plane had to refuel in AK... turned a 14 hour flight into more than 18.

KY is the location of most in-out bound shipments. Big shipping center there. I've seen then go from KY to Japan on the way here but not to AK. But what's the worry if you know it is enroute?

At first I thought it might have gone to AK by mistake, regardless of how computerised everything is with all the bar-code scanning ,etc. Seems like it's gone from Anchorage to Incheon today, so getting closer.
