Salary Calculations (Pro-Rated)

Post by calvink » Mon, 30 May 2011 6:54 pm

Hi all,

Is there a formula to calculate salary for work not done in a full month. I started on 10th May and will receive my pay tomorrow 31st May.

Or should I just calculate by taking into account the number of working days (number of working days in May and divide by my full monthly salary and then multiply by the number of days that I work?

That is correct for the initial partial month as well as the final partial month (if partial).

But watch out for companies that try to screw you by including public holidays in working days, thereby making the denominator in your calculation larger.
