and the basis of your hypothesis is?
SOME PEOPLE TRY TO TURN BACK THEIR ODOMETERS. NOT ME. I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW WHY I LOOK THIS WAY. I'VE TRAVELED A LONG WAY, AND SOME OF THE ROADS WEREN'T PAVED. ~ Will Rogers

Goodmorning

in short: It is not that a certain country is better then the other. It is historically a fact that certain states, cities etc get their "golden ages" for a while and become more powerfull in regard to the rest of the world.
that goes in phases: grow, stagnation and downfall.

The article in the tread starter gives alot of facts of how much bigger and better China is supposed to be compared to America and then gives advice on what America must do.

But that is irrelevant, faults or no faults the economic prospherity always moves around through the world and no state has been able to hold on to it.

So the who is better then the other one discussion that the article aims to open, can not be seen as "academic" especially as it is written by a medical biologist who for some reason steps out of his field :???: and deems himself worthy to make economical, sociological and political judgements (who where already made 25 years ago or longer) in a rather sensational matter in an article that contains more air then content.

There is a Chinese saying..风水轮流转.
In general sense, it meant the cycle of change is relentless,
Yes, that means growth, stagnation and downfall.

The Chinese speaking S'poreans are a real joy to interact with. They are always so reasonable, polite and warm. The Chinese are an even bigger joy to interact with, I can see where the Chinese speaking S'poreans inherit their great advanced culture from.

The Chinese are so advanced these days. Their wages are high, their political system is very sustainable and every single Chinese is a master of logic and science.

I would say the Chinese are just as intelligent as 'KSL' of drinking vinegar fame. Excellent people all-round.
