Where to Live in Singapore

Post by Big Brown » Thu, 19 May 2011 11:38 pm

Hello everyone. I have an opportunity to possibly relocate to Singapore so would love some advice on where to live. I've been searching/reading this forum for quite some time so thought this would be the best place to get some feedback.

I'm in my early 30's and my wife is late 20's and we'll both be working in or near Raffles Place. We both love to go out drinking and eating all the food that Singapore has to offer. We have a dog and a cat but still undecided if we're bringing the dog (which I know is a whole other forum topic!).

Unfortunately, I still do not know my housing allowance or budget but just thought I'd start the conversation. We're thinking we'd be looking for a 2 bedroom condo in the SGD 4k-5k range. Based on preliminary research, we were thinking East Coast (love the "beach", pier, outdoor activities it offers, and seems like best place for dig if we brought him), Bukit Timah (seems like a young area with lots of bars and restaturants), or Holland Park (seems like has the most variety of restaurants etc). All 3 of these areas also seem to contain a large population of expats which would be nice since we'll know nobody if/when we get there!

Anyway, sorry for the long post but any advice you have on those neighborhoods or other suggestions or anything else you have in mind would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help

Robertson Quay, especially if you say you'll be working in the Raffles Place vicinity.
