Mens suits...

Post by gumbeaux » Tue, 17 May 2011 1:26 pm

while I understand that suits are not the preferred dress of choice, are there any high quality suit tailors in Sing for both summer and back in the cooler climes of the world?

who are they?

What kind of $$ are we talking about?

Thanks!

Walk around Peninsular Shopping center, next to the Peninsular hotel.

Also in Far East Shopping Center.

Consider making a trip to Bangkok, cheap, good quality tailors.

Agreed re: Peninsular SC, I had my wedding suit (a summer suit) made there, damned fine set of threads! I forget what is cost, something like S$400. PM me if of potential interest and I'll try and dig out the details.

BKK is also good, but the downside is that you need time for the fittings. I forget now, but I certainly had 4 fittings at various stages of construction. I recall the last fitting was solely to double check they had things precise enough to cut the front and cuff buttonholes. Minor details, but if you're having a suit hand-made there is no point then cutting corners. If you have time to do it properly in BKK then sure, why not.

I know my bro-in-law always go to this tailor at Raffles Hotel whenever he visits Singapore. There are a few tailors there, I vaguely remember the one he visits is on the 2nd level (sorry I don;t have the shop name!). Not sure about the price though, but he's happy with his clothes!
