Recruitment/headhunter sites for construction industry?

Post by aster » Tue, 17 May 2011 8:24 am

I have friends who are keen on a move to Singapore but would obviously like to secure a job before making it over.

The guy is a "quantity surveyor and project director" (not sure what the former involves) but since I have nothing to do with this industry I wouldn't know where to start to help them. Any ideas?

I'm assuming two things, 1) he's building/civils related and not O&G related and 2) is he perchance a Scot?

Not meant to be a slur, but a huge number of QS's are Scottish, or it seemed so back in my heydays. He could start with Meinhardt. I don't have any ideas what they are doing at the moment. It might be a little tight over here at the moment, what with the Circle line getting on near finishing. Means lots of project teams are coming up available as well, especially those with Asian experience. But, if he's got a suitable track record, he might just be able to pull something out of the hat. Obviously, not to forget the recruitment headhunters as well. Rather than trying to cherrypick, I'd just flood the HH sites as it costs nothing to get the CV out there. Have him also look at The Expat Network (British) and excellent with worldwide coverage including Asian contacts. I've used them many times and have met the owners from the UK.

If he's got steelwork experience (O&G, Refinery, etc) or Shipyard Experience he could look at the obvious KepFels, Sembawang Shipyard, and the like.

Many thanks SMS!

His wife and I went to high-school together and her husband is indeed Scottish. :)

I will pass on this info to them and hopefully they can get a foot in the door somewhere to make this move happen. Once again many thanks!
