Short interior design course

Post by Vanyh » Wed, 17 Nov 2004 9:39 pm

Hi,

I'm French living currently in Finland. I will come to Singapore for a short 3-4 months from mid-january next year to follow my partner who will be working there.

I would like to study interior design, but all the schools I found in Singapore from the web are offering only a year-round course. :(

So do you know of any short time period type of courses, evening courses or intensive ones, anything?

Thanks! :D

Hi Vanyh,

I am also interested in taking up a interior design course.
I've found one starting in February 2005.
It is a 16 week evening course at Lasalle SIA in Singapore.
Here's the web site. It is not updated on February courses yet. Maybe you can call them for more information.
http://www.lasallesia.edu.sg/secondary.html?courses/

I might sign up for this too. If you do enrol, see you there! :)

Raffles Lasalle do not offer interior designing course.
Nayang academy of fine arts does but it is an intensive 30 week course.
Here's the link.

Interior design course

Post by Vanyh » Mon, 03 Jan 2005 2:31 am

Hi Stephanie,

I have enrolled at Palin School of Art and Design for 6 months, they have courses starting every month, and lasting 3 months - practical when you are in SG like me for a short period. This is the most flexible school I found, also the cheapest. The 2 courses I'll take are Residential interior design and then Commercial interior design. They are full time courses (they also have part time if it suits you better).
Maybe see you there! (When are you coming to Sg or are you already living there?)

Hi Vanyh,

Oh I am actually Singaporean so I am living here.
I posted here as I thought you might need some information.

Yes, I do agree that the courses at Palin are more flexible, it's cheaper too. Great choice!
I am currently working and wish to pursue my interest in Interior designing. Therefore short part-time courses will be really suitable for me.

I'm also interested in the Residential and Commercial interior design course. Think I will be enrolling for the Residential one first starting next Wednesday.

When does your class start?

:D

Cheers,
Stephanie

Interior design course

Post by Vanyh » Mon, 03 Jan 2005 4:21 pm

My class starts this week (Residential Int Design) but I arrive in Singapore only end of next week. I was told it is ok and they will help me catch up with the course.
So did I undertand right that you decided to take a course at Palin, a part time/evening one?

You seem to be in similar situation as I am, meaning that I am working in a field which has nothing to do with interior design (internet consulting), but I would like to dedicate some time now to that area which interests me highly... and maybe work in it one day.

Interior design course

I think the earliest residential designing course this year will begin next Wednesday 12 Jan evening. Wonder if you can join this class.

Same here. I am a systems engineer in an IT firm specialising in server software. I'm very interested in interior designing and may consider a career in it too. :D

Perhaps we can chat more one day. :)

Palin school - avoid

Post by Vanyh » Mon, 04 Apr 2005 3:25 pm

Hi,

I do not recommend Palin school as I had huge troubles with it during the past months. Do not make the same mistake to try to enter this school, that's my friendly advise. Plus students I know who study there have complained about the quality of the teaching and the run down place, and I read similar comments from other students on diverse discussion forums.
Try rather other schools like LCE design, Lasalle SIA, Raffles etc.

do any of you know where can I get short courses(less than a year) in the architecture field? So far I've only been able to find graphic/interior design... :(

Agree with Vanyh, you should look at Lasalle and NAFA instead. Or maybe even the local polytechnics.
