will it be enough?

Post by urban_designer » Mon, 09 May 2011 9:28 pm

folks, i seriously need some advice. i have been offered a position in singapore that would pay roughly 56,000 singapore dollars per year. i am not in a very lucrative field anyway, so i am used to making less than most of my professional friends. however, i just need to know if this will be enough to even live on. singapore seems incredible expensive! am i going to be able to find a decent 1BR apartment for less than S$1500?? i would really love help from anyone who could offer....

1 BHK apartment's are rare in Singapore. You have to opt for either a whole unit in a HDB (2 Bed Room HDB) that will cost you between 1700-2200 sgd (just a guideline). Or rent a Single room called as Master Bed Room / Common Room in an HDB flat on a shared basis with another family that would cost you between 650-900 SGD.

Good Luck !

As said by SF its unlikely you will find a 1 bed in your price range. You never know your luck in a raffle though. I had friend who was renting a 2 bed HDB in Bedok for $1000 a month.

If you dont mind sharing accomadation you will have no problems at all living on that salary. You wont save much if anything at the end of the month but you will be able to have a good time.
Life is short, paddle harder!!
