Hi, I have been trying to look up information on this topic for some time now, but couldn't find in the previous posts.
I am planning to apply for LPR very soon and then apply for EPEC after that and arrive in Singapore to look for a job.
However, I am not sure that if I do land a job after arrival and get an EP while my LPR application is still pending, does my LPR application get denied automatically since one of the requirements is that the applicant shouldn't be working in Singapore.
I'm not sure if the applicant shouldn't be working in Singapore till the LPR application is decided upon or only at the time of application.
I tried contacting ICA but they did not have any answer and just referred me to the rules, and the websites do not spell out their policy for such a case.
Any help is appreciated. If this info might have already been discussed, a link to that discussion would also be helpful.
Thanks for your time.

What are you trying to achieve here? The blitzkrieg of applying for almost every visa known to mankind, well, you get my point, is confusing matters (and sure as hell ICA won't like it)

The reason to apply for the EPEC after LPR is that I don't spend too much time looking for a job since the time I wait for my LPR application decision is a financial strain on savings (which isn't huge).

Now let me clear this myth ..
EPEC is only a piece of paper says that you have employable credentials .. and that doesn't in any way mean shorten or lengthen your job search ..
If you have LPR, then companies would treat you the same as EPEC holders .. as with LPR the local/foreigner ratio is overcome ..

Absolultely, the reason I was looking at getting the EPEC is that if I can get the EPEC approved, I can get a 1yr SVP and enter Singapore to look for jobs. I can look for jobs while I'm still out but I assume it might be better to be in the country.

Not necessarily. Do a search of this forum. Several instances including one I replied to earlier today, where the EPEC holder was NOT given an LTVP. It is not mandatory for ICA (Immigration) to give you an LTVP for one year or even at all if they have their reasons for not doing so (and they won't tell you the reason either), but they do NOT have to give you the pass. MOM has no control of LTVP's, only the EPEC.

Thanks for the reply.
Maybe I phrased my question in a little confusing way. I am aware that the LTSVP still needs to be approved by the ICA after MOM approves the EPEC.
My main concern is that lets say I apply for LPR, following which I apply for EPEC and I arrive in Singapore (assuming MoM approves EPEC & ICA approves the LTSVP) and if I land a job, would the ICA at that point reject my LPR (if the decision on that is still pending) since I got a job and maybe just give an EP for the job OR give the EP while simultaneously processing the LPR.
The primary thing that I cannot figure out is how the ICA might deal with my LPR application if I land a job in Singapore after applying for LPR. My intent is not to game the system or circumvent the rules.
I appreciate the time taken by the members to reply.

We don't know precisely what will happen, but anecdotal evidence of posters here who make multiple stabs to get here using various routes, generally throw a big spanner into the works and eventually get screwed up. Having said that, if you get a job offer and it's approved, you should notify ICA to update your LPR application. The may push it to the front of the line or they could withdraw the application. I would think the odds are if you notify them, it would be pushed to the front of the line for either approval or rejection. the reason being, you have already found a job so it only a matter of do they want you as a PR or just let you stay here on EP's (most rejected PR applications are told they are welcome to stay here on EP's until such time as they are no longer needed). But if you don't notify ICA then you are asking for a spanner in the works.

If my memory serves me right, your FIN number links all the applications route be it, EP, EPEC, LPR, LTSVP whatever.
Rest assured the agencies will know one way or another

Once a FIN number is given to an individual it's valid for life or until that number is retired and an NRIC number is assigned (which is not the same number at all - They don't just change the prefix/suffix)

I recall now, my expired student pass (1998) FIN was given to me by ICA as the reference number for my PR application(2006)!
Nobody knows about future!

I always looked at NRIC/FIN as being the same thing as SSN/ITIN in US. The only difference US doesn't do much of e-services ;-) using SSN/ITIN as login ID.
