I was talking only about my bank when said that most people in IT are in contract roles. I know my bank is unique in the way they hire( mostly contractors and employees only at senior more responsible levels) and are more conservative when it comes to hiring and firing and they came out of the credit crunch much better than some of the other banks.

Haha, I have quite a few mates who work for CS, inparticular IT, so know the inner workings quite well and what you've been posting it just had to be CS!
