These so-called (in the normal use of that phrase, not the Singapore misuse / overuse of "so-called") Social Networks are really an oxymoron.

They are anti-social by virtue of the fact that some users of them, including apparently yourself, value online interactions over face-to-face relationships with people.

If you have real memories of experiences together, some of those are probably with friends; if the only evidence of friendship you have is text, well in most cases that's just not enough to warrant calling someone a friend.

Nobody has 600 friends. Only you know which of them are your real friends, the vast majority of the rest are acquaintances. And very likely a few are not even friends at all.

Know the difference.

I feel very alone...

My Facebook got about 600+ friends

But in real life I feel so alone even though I am chatting online with so many people.

My birthday just passed not too long ago. Lots of well wishes on my wall; but nobody bothers to call me and wish me well...

Do you feel we become very superficial ah? Do for the sake of it or for convenience sake? I also admit I seldom call anyone to wish them Happy Birthday anymore.

Got many Facebook friends but all are like strangers.
Kinda of like ex-gf likedat... they know what's going on with you but don't talk to you...

Do you guys feel this way?

Sorry for WOT.

And what is your facebook name...i will add you thats + 1 friend
Just feeling depressed.

very good suggestions, all. let's see when, if ever, will the OP try out any of it.

some people just like to lament their sad state of life, and when given suggestions or advice, make all sorts of excuses not to take them up. such people prefer to wallow in the deep recesses of their melancholy.

I will stand corrected if the OP replies back telling me he`s actually an American, new to Singapore looking for friends.

Then it will all make sense..... or maybe not. :D

Methinks, my post is in the wrong thread. Sometimes multiple tabs confuse the hell out of me! :???:
