Hi there,
May I ask if anyone has any recommendations for the best fish oil? I realise that the Singapore market doesn't seem to stock good quality fish oil, or if there is, please advise the brands and where I can get them. I'm happy to buy them online as well.
Alternatively, I'll be in Sydney for a short holiday in May, will be happy for suggestions to get them there.
Thanks so much
J

Supplements seem to be wildly expensive in SG
Maybe use this as a comparative (from the UK)...

I recently bought the Boots own brand 1000mg, 180 capsules for £9.99 (and then on 3 for 2 offer that I used combined on multi-vits and other stuff).

i use Kordel's Alaskan Salmon Oil. They're a Canadian company and when i looked the company up online they have a policy of quality control, especially heavy metal checking. You can get them from Guardian for about S$35 for 90 capsules but John Little has an offer on at the minute, 3 bottles of 90 capsules for $54.

Try Efalex fish oil under the Efamol brand. You can get it at Guardian and other pharmacies.

Shop around. The major pharmacies in Singapore all seem to offer deals on a recurrent basis. I've had no problem at all with the brands I've purchased here and they can be very reasonably priced (because it's normally buy one get one free or suchlike).
I've used many brands here without problem. Just make sure you pick one that specifically says they filter out the heavy metals and that has a decent proportion of ECA/DHA in it (like >500mg each).
Another option is Amazon.com (yes, they sell everything these days).

Why? Flax Seed oil has been shown to be really poor as a precursor to Omega 3 whereas Omega 3 has been shown to be an excellent source of Omega 3. Fish oil is about the only supplement that has any real evidence to back it up as a worthwhile thing to take.
