Indonesian PR marrying Singaporean - HELP!
Indonesian PR marrying Singaporean - HELP!
Hi, I'm Indonesian PR and planning to get married with my Singaporean bf. We intend to buy a HDB, however, the problem is, I just got a HDB with my sister last year. We don't want to get a condo because it's very costly and the space isn't big.
I understand that my sister and I have to stay for a minimum of 5 years in the HDB. Is there any solution where i can get a HDB with my bf? How about changing name when it's over 5 years?
Thanks for the info!

Is change your BF name to your sister or your sister to your BF?
Yes, can check the amount to be buy pay in CPF.
Yes again. Only after your MOP complete.
BTW, you taking Bank loan or HDB loan.
If Bank loan, you need to check your LO. What is the term and condition.
And need to pay Lawyer fee, stamp duties (If I'm not wrong), and etc..
alot of money come in, so not just simple as buy back your sister share.

do you know any web where i can check how is the calculation of the CPF payment?
I'm taking the Bank Loan currently. Ehm.. there's really a lot of hassle to just transfer the name.
SO there's really no other way where i can buy another HDB unless i sell the current one?? or else we can only get a condo? *SIGH*

I believe there will also be restrictions about owning an HDB flat and buying a condo but again you would need to check this out with the HDB. It might be only if subsidies were used or the mortgage is with HDB or Banks. I'm not real sure, but remember some changes that were made last years.

No other way
Name only can appear in 1 HDB. Period. No way. No short cut.
Buy Condo. You can't too. You need to meet HDB min MOP before you can buy private property.
Quote from HDB

# Q:# I have not fulfilled the minimum occupation period. What are the types of private properties I can invest in?
# A: If you have not fulfilled the minimum occupation period, you can only invest in:
* pure commercial properties
* pure industry properties
* vacant land not zoned for residential development
You cannot invest in any type of property that is classified as residential or has residential accommodation.
Buy condo. Out of question

another option
ask ur BF to buy a HDB if he is > 35 yrs old under Single Singapore Citizen Scheme
http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10321p.nsf ... enDocument
Note: only for single singaporean. So, he cannot marry when he purchase the HDB.
As the HDB only has his name, cannot use your CPF for HDB installment.
Drop HDB an email if you can get thru' the hotline.

The changes last year say that if you have not owned a HDB flat for the Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) of 5 years, you are unable to buy a private residential property. If you purchased the flat early last year, your MOP could be a shorter period of time, only one year. The rules that apply should be those in force when you purchased your flat, but there is some greyness there, so expect each agent to give you a different answer.
What you can do is to transfer your sister's share to your bf, when he becomes your husband. However there are transfer costs to pay, and the banks would have to assess if they are willing for that to take place. The other problem is that after selling a HDB flat, your sister could have restrictions placed on her being able to buy an HDB flat.
You need to check with HDB about this. If you bought before late Aug 2010, you should not have a problem with the MOP. The big cost will just be the financial costs of transferring. Oh, and that your sister will have to wait til another sibling becomes PR or she gets married to be able to buy a home again.
Is there any chance you, her, and your husband could all live together?
