Postby Mr Tan » Wed, 20 Apr 2011 9:22 am

Hi, i am looking to setup my food business budget. i am new to the industry, i need some info and help in getting my supplies.

my questions:

can i take a loan for it ? or where can i find partners ?
buying of used commercial kitchen supplies ? like fridge mainly .
buying of food supplies

Business : Selling Steamboat , authentic chinese cuisine

my budget:
20k rental for 1 month and 2months up front.
Kitchen equipment 10k fridge
simple reno - 2-3k basic lightening and sign board
food supplies + utensils - 5k
admin license - 10k
manpower - 7-8k incl my own salary

l heard new food business requires a NEA license and a Civil defence license for fire safety.

You looking at consignment supplies on a weekly basis for basics like sauces, u can PM me for the list. As i'm sure if I post the list it will only attract time wasters. While I'm here I may as well ask if anyone out there is doing original Taiwan Food my wife is home sick and wants ready made Taiwan food made by Taiwanese has the Singaporean and Chinese that advertise Taiwanese Food, is just like those advertising Western Food. No idea.

I will say that anyone who is wanting to start food business should take the opportunity to join the Food Festival at the end of MAY. http://www.singaporefoodexpo.org.sg/ if your food doesn't sell there, it will not be a viable business idea. So rent or share a booth with others to cut costs for the event and try your luck. You must have the licences in order for F&B
