EP P1 difficult to get, for a start up company?

Post by Hackerwill » Mon, 18 Apr 2011 12:09 am

I have been reading that it is sometimes difficult to get an employment pass, with the Sing Gov trying to encourage the employment of local staff.

I am British, working for a successful UK company (for the last 7 years) that has asked me to set up the business in Singapore. I have a BA Hons degree from a UK University and 20 years in my industry. I would be paid over Sing$30k per month on a 3 year contract.

With these basic criteria, is it still a lottery whether I would get approved or not?

If your company is one that will be hiring local staff in reasonable numbers, I concur. Shouldn't be a problem.

As your tax bill will be the equivalent of over 60 locals earning a half decent salary I don't think there will be a problem
