There is very little leniency - this is why you see people coming back now and taking the hit. Don't stay outside any longer if you want to return to Singapore in the future.Slacker8788 wrote: ↑Wed, 01 Mar 2023 6:30 pmI am in a similar situation.
Can someone PM me the contacts at cmpb for me to plea my case?
I don't want be jailed or be in court like this guy:

History has a habit of making people look like fools. I gave you the links. pick up a phone or use Whatsapp/Skype/Telegram and ask them. I'm sure they will help.Slacker8788 wrote: ↑Wed, 01 Mar 2023 7:12 pmI think historically there was mention of Susan? Or someone else at cmpb?
Is there still a defaulters branch?
what do you mean? Yes I want to address the lapse in exit permit issue. I do want to visit singapore again. Thus I want to plea my case? I do not want to get arrested or head to court.PNGMK wrote: ↑Thu, 02 Mar 2023 11:59 amThere is very little leniency - this is why you see people coming back now and taking the hit. You can't plead the case remotely. That's the whole catch 22. You can definitely make things a bit easier (i.e. avoid being arrested on arrival by arranging a surrender) but I would engage a solicitor to set up a managed surrender at Changi Airport. There's no way to mitigate this without appearing in court in SingaporeSlacker8788 wrote: ↑Fri, 03 Mar 2023 12:18 pmwhat do you mean? Yes I want to address the lapse in exit permit issue. @sundaymorningstaple
I have contacted the NS hotline, they are unable to put me through the exit permit branch at cmpb, they do not have any contact numbers.
are you saying I will be arrested? are you a lawyer with knowledge?PNGMK wrote: ↑Fri, 03 Mar 2023 4:41 pmYou can't plead the case remotely. That's the whole catch 22. No I'm not a lawyer. The process IS (from a friend who had same issue):Slacker8788 wrote: ↑Fri, 03 Mar 2023 8:23 pmare you saying I will be arrested? are you a lawyer with knowledge?PNGMK wrote: ↑Fri, 03 Mar 2023 4:41 pmYou can't plead the case remotely. I read on this forum that other people got fine and could pay their fines online?

You arrive
Immi notes you are AWOL
They inform MP (who are in Changi)
MP come and grab you
You go to Brig
From Brig to MC (military court).
What you need to do is negotiate via a solicitor to avoid all that by volunteering to surrender on arrival so it's not a surprise and shows that you are cooperative. There is a formula for the fine and prison time - you can probably find it somewhere.

I would certainly hope it is a fine and prison time.
Not sure why i had so many grammatical errors in my reply, but somehow i cannot edit it.
Guys who don't do NS are different to guys who have been too long on an expired exit permit.Slacker8788 wrote: ↑Sun, 05 Mar 2023 7:19 pmNot sure why i had so many grammatical errors in my reply, but somehow i cannot edit it.
Corrected version:
I would certainly hope it is a fine and NOT prison time.
not sure why the NSmen in the article i listed above needed to be arrested and face court. unless he repeatedly ignored mindef when he was sent a please explain letter?
There are three different types of charges. The least is having done your NS but overstaying your exit permit. The next two will have jail time as well as fine and duty in various quantum's. There are Defaulters (those who left without doing their NS without going through the proper protocols - it's a minefield deliberately). Then there are the bunch in the middle - those who went AWOL while in NS {Absent WithOut Leave}. These are the ones who are really hung out to dry till hell freezes over. The Defaulters are the only ones, as noted by PNGMK, who may get out of jail time if a lawyer can get a voluntary surrender arranged.PNGMK wrote: ↑Sun, 05 Mar 2023 8:04 pmGuys who don't do NS are different to guys who have been too long on an expired exit permit.Slacker8788 wrote: ↑Sun, 05 Mar 2023 7:19 pmNot sure why i had so many grammatical errors in my reply, but somehow i cannot edit it.

I don't think there has been an NS man jailed for overstaying his permit. Plenty have been jailed for never doing their NS.
