how long has ur permit lapsed? have you ever applied for any deferments or permits since your ord?

have you logged in to ns.sg and seen if you have any notices?

were you assigned a unit before you left? have you/your family received any call-up letters since you left?

each year is about 1k iirc. if you can’t pay you up you’ll likely go to prison. probably won’t be long. like maybe a week for a 5k fine?

good luck!

lapsed for ~ 7 years now.
I have applied for permits before but somehow forgot to renew it after 2016 :o
I never had a call up notice before and but have one now currently for end May 2023 - I have applied to the unti to defer it.
My NSF unit is still my current unit.

CMPB replied and wants me to attend in person for an interview for the offence. Gave me a contact person to make an appointment.
I hope I won't be arrested at the airport... :(

They'll let you clear immigration before you are picked up or the will let you come to them and then off to the lockup. That's why the tell you, you must appear in person as they cannot extradite you.

Is that true?
Has anyone else encountered this before and can share their experience?
What happens at the interview?
Will I be slapped with a fine at mindef level? Or do I need to be hurl up to court?
I have done a deep dive of this forum and can't find any other info.
MS used to be the expert but is no longer on this forum.

anecdotally, if you had not contacted cmpb or given them your info, what will happen imo is…

you come back. life goes on. you may get a notice then be given a meeting (summary trial) to plead your case. if the officer accepts your explanation you go home. else you pay a fine first.

the end!

officer = military officer

meeting in a room with a table

if it’sa reservist unit, it will be a reservist officer. if you’re wose probably a captain.

they tend to be more understanding. because often they’re also serving punishment...

many people in your case slip under the radar.

if you’ve escalated this to cmpb with details then you may not get off scott free.

Hello all, I am in a similar situation (EP expired by a month, currently overseas), checked ns portal no upcoming or previous mannings. Already applied for a new exit permit, but it's been stuck in pending for a few days. Should I keep waiting or call to check?
