Moving to Singapore

Post by rohan.monteiro » Mon, 11 Apr 2011 3:07 am

Hi All,

I'm moving to Singapore next month. My wife and I have both gotten job offers there.

We were interested in a 2 Bedroom condo, not too far from Scots Road ( which is where our office will be based). By not too far, I mean within 20 minutes using the MRT and without changing trains, if that's possible

I am currently residing in Dubai - Can someone please let me know..

a) the approximate rent for the above in SGD - just a range is fine for now
b)a website where I can see such condos and plan in advance before I arrive?
c)Im also looking to ship a lot of my own furniture - is there an option for furnished/unfurnished condos in Singapore?

Thanks in Advance

Hi rohan.monteiro,

I do live in Singapore, however I have been doing research after accepting a position that starts in June.

From the research I have done I think I can help with some of your questions.

a) Rents will depend how close to work you want to live. It is
more expensive near your work, however if you go north around bukit timah it can be somewhat less expensive. 2 bedroom could be anywhere from S$2500 or much more depending on what life style you are trying to maintain.

b) The website you're on is a great resource to look at condos. They list amenities, sometimes have pictures, and can give you a fair idea of the standard of living you'll find in different buildings. http://www.singaporeexpats.com/housing- ... operty.htm

c) I don't know about shipping, I will not be shipping much myself. There are certainly options that are furnished (what I am looking for), and I have seen plenty of unfurnished as well.

Good luck!

OP; you can let yourself do the walking yourself as this topic has been discussed at length. The search button at the top right corner under the profile link is the first place to start.
If you are still unable to find it due to your unforeseen circumstances let us know, we will try to lend a hand but the search button is a powerful tool which will basically answer many of your questions

Thanks in Advance
