Seeking advice: living with a toddler in Singapore?

Post by WJM » Sun, 03 Apr 2011 4:43 am

My husband has been offered the opportunity to come to Singapore to work for 6 months and wants to bring us with him....my daughter is 32 months old (her 3rd birthday is the end of August) and I have not lived abroad myself before so am a little concerned.

Please can you tell me what it is like being a mum of a toddler in Singapore?

What are the key things that I should consider and how are they addressed there e.g. nurserys? healthcare? toddler groups / meet-ups?.

Really appreciate any hints and tips you could share with me.

With thanks,
Wendy-Jo

Have you done your research on this forum yet? Almost all the information you will need is here just using the search function (below the profile link at the upper right side of this page). But yes, you can come here with a toddler with no problems. And I suspect, like the thousands who came here before you, you will be a mom just like they did. :?

Yes thank you Sundaymorningstaple I have had a look at the forum, including your helpful hyperlinks (there must be something wrong with my PC because they decrease in size to almost font size 1 which I find difficult to read) however most of the posts seem to be quite specific to certain schools / regions etc or chains of correspondence on peoples views upon what age a child should go into childcare. At the moment I am still at the overwhelmed stage and would appreciate general hints and tips!

Your toddler will have no adjustment problems and will enjoy his/her time here.

Whether you do the same depends on how open-minded and flexible you are!

Hi, did you come to Singapore? I have two girls, 3 and 1. Singapore has been a great place for them and so easy as it was our first overseas posting. Any questions you have I will be glad to answer.
