Dog help

Post by englishspringer » Wed, 30 Mar 2011 5:16 pm

Hi, I am hoping someone may be able to recommend a dog walker/sitter who works in the Bukit Batok area?

I have had a look through the classified section and on other posts, but what I really need are recommendations of good/trustworthy walkers/sitters.

I have a black and white English Springer Spaniel who is going crazy being cooped up on his own all day while me and my boyfriend are at work and I feel guilty leaving him for so long.

He came with us when we moved out here earlier this year and while he was left while we worked back in the UK, it is a much longer day out here for him... He has started to chew things and as he sleeps most of the day, he doesn't want to sleep at night when we want to.

Also, one thing he is missing is other dogs to socialise with. Back in the UK he would meet and be able to play with so many other dogs, but I just haven't been able to find that here.

Any help/suggestions or recommendations would be much appreciated.

You should! :? But at least you recognize the problem. :) This is a breed that needs a lot of interaction and exercise as you know. You can contact these people, they are wonderful:

Since I suppose you don't have a helper at home, you could ask one of the neighbors if their maid would like to take him out midday for a quick walk? Illegal, but not very illegal.

You can put ads up in your building, the local grocers, everywhere and find someone who is reliable who can come and exercise this dog every day. I'd find redundant people so you know it'll get done. There's also the doggie daycare:

http://www.k9kulture.com/

I'd fix this ASAP or his destructive behaviors will get worse and entrenched. Good luck.

Thanks for your help, I'll take a look.

There are a few other people with dogs on my estate so I'm going to ask them what they do and hopefully get something sorted soon!

The Pet Concierge is a doggy vacation/daycare place. Where in Bukit Batok are you. We are Hillview Ave down the road from Min Def and we take our little furry girl there one day a week for playtime and to give me a day out. She also goes there for vacation care so already is comfortable when we wish to go away. Let me know if you want any further info.

We live at the top of Jalan Dermawan, which is also off Hillview Ave.

Whereabouts is the daycare - it was something I was considering and I heard there was one near us but they keep the dogs caged all day. At the minute he has full run of the house all day, so he can run about and go out on the terrace when he wants to.

If you do have any more info that would be great. Even if he did it once or twice a week it would give him a bit more interaction with other dogs...

Thanks!

The Pet Concierge is Chu Yen Rd just up from you. There is also a place next to the Daycare just off Jln Batu Nilam cnr Dermawan....not sure if she is retail or just word of mouth. My Bindii is a super sensitive furry girl and she does sooooo well at Sandy's. Sandy does not believe in cages(unless requested by owner and he will then still try to talk them out of it) but does use a pen type situation. They will aslo walk your baby as per your requests etc.
Give Sandy an email [email protected] and ask everything you like. It may take day or so to answer as he can get very busy. Just loves all animals. Very experienced.
Hope I have been of some help

Try Milk Bone Pet Day Care - themilkbone.blogspot.com. I don't use their day care or walking services as my dog has the company of my toddler (poor doggie) and my son's nanny during the day. I've used their boarding services for years and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their help on this.

We spoke with a few daycare services, but unfortunately because we have chosen not to neuter our dog it makes things a little more difficult.

We have been able to get him registered at K9 Kulture, which he now attends. It's a nice place and it's good because we can also board him there when we go away rather than put him in a kennel he has never seen before.

Thanks again for everyone's advice and if anyone is interested in socialising their dog please feel free to get in touch - I think my dog is missing the canine friends he used to play with in the UK.

uk dogs

Post by hendosan » Thu, 05 May 2011 1:52 pm

Hello!
my hubby and i moved out here in April. We have two female whippets, and if you ever want to meet up at one of the dog parks please let us know. they have similar high energy to spaniels so am sure would get on well. We are fairly close to Bishan and have been trying to go there every couple of days. (mainly evenings so far) I went at 8.30 this morning and spoke to some ladies who go there same time everyday. there were plenty of dogs to play about with.
It was so hot though, and as hub takes our only car to work, i walked there and back taking me a long hot and sweaty 45 mins each way. (way to hot- next time will try 6am!)
I guess you have been here a little longer than us- as i see from your post dates- so you may have already made some doggy pals, but our two are missing their uk doggy buds too i think, but lucky they have eachother i guess!
So feel free to pm me, or email at [email protected]
oh- p.s. we have also been trying to look for good sitters for when we go away! you recommend k9? we went there and still need to get evaluations done.
