Home office and property tax implications?

Post by FaeLLe » Sun, 27 Mar 2011 3:17 pm

Hello all,

I bought a 3 bhk condo (freehold) in Singapore a while ago.
Am planning to establish a Sole Proprietership in Singapore under my Wife's name and get a Home Office license for the unit (under the URA Home office scheme - http://edanet.ura.gov.sg/dcd/homeoffice ... Oindex.jsp ).

Is anyone aware of any property tax implications?
I am currently paying the owner residential status (staying on premises) property tax for my unit.

Even after this I will be staying there along with my wife.
Would I be assesed for property tax under commerical tax status?

I plan to call IRAS on Monday to check as well.

Thanks!

Obviously, calling IRAS is your best bet, and, I don't think that having a HO affects your tax status... you still get the concession scheme so long as you have properly registered the HO.
