Looking for a transfer maid - question about the Agencies

Post by Expat in Singapore » Sun, 27 Mar 2011 11:32 am

Hi all,
I am looking for an indonesian transfer maid but I have heard that the agencies take a significant portion of the salaries of the new maids. Not sure if this is true for transfer maids.
Does any one know how this works?

If anyone has any thoughts on how to find a transfer maid please do let me know.
I will also try the classified but I need to understand this and hope for some advice here.

Thanks.

The agency I know of take 2 months. Though do not transfer through the agency, you have no need approximate rate now for agency maid with 3 years experience is $550 and that's a lot the maid must handover.

We have organised a transfer of our maid, and the person taking her can do it through MOM without agency involvement, so the maid doesn't have to pay agency fees, not sure if negotiations are finished yet though.

Just go onto MOM website and look up FDW it's very straight forward, I can direct you to the maid insurance office later if needed, though the maid needs an uptodate medical before transfer can start. You can either pay this for her, or the people helping her transfer, do not submit application without a medical it will be rejected.
