Hi all,
I've been living/working in Singapore for a while now and the time has come for me to move back home. I've never made a big move before, I'll be selling a bunch of things but there will be a few boxes and a bike as well that I'd like to ship home.
I've been looking that just shipping it out using SingPost but their biggest box size is pretty small for a bike frame, so I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find bigger boxes for bike parts. Now that I've typed this out, a bike shop comes to mind haha but if anyone has any other suggestion that's be great.
Another question I have is: has anyone transferred money to Canada? Wiring is one way but a lot of fees involved and I hear the rates aren't as good. Then there's foreign exchange companies too which seems like a better option. Anyone have any experience in this?
Any other advice when moving would be great! Your help is appreciated!
Thanks..

As far as I know, a bicycle is too big to be sent by SingPost.
Since all other options cost more than the bike is worth, bring it with you on the flight! (Ask the airline for details and costs.)
You can get boxes in any bike shop that just received a shipment, usually free of charge.
Short of carrying cash (exchange into your home currency before you leave, as rates and fees are better here!), wire transfer is the cheapest reasonable option. There are shady service providers like Western Union, but your money might end up in Nigeria ...

ok thanks for the info. I'll probably exchange money here and wire. yeah I won't be using something like western union, I get the same feeling..
I phoned SingPost about the maximum size and weight. The have a formula for the size:
(max length of 150cm) + (width x 2) + (height x 2) < 300cm.
max weight is 30kg.
I'll most likely try that option, no rush for the bike but I'll also call the airlines to see the procedures on that!
thanks!
